File Specifications for Full Color Printing

To qualify customer supplied digital artwork must meet our specifications. If they files do not meet our specifications we will notify you. We bill at the rate of $37.50 per ½ hour for reworking poor digital artwork, typesetting and design with a minimum of ½ hour.

All color images must be CMYK, Do not send RGB files. Do to the nature of 4 color process a Rich Black Build will print better than just 100% black. Please set your CMYK build as follows: C: 70% , M: 40%, Y: 20%, K: 100%

File Specifications for Spot Color Printing

Do not use CMYK spot color builds even for the black inks. Make sure you specify solid PMS inks and grayscale black. Embed all the graphics, outline the type and save as a PDF with crop marks. You can easily double check your PDF file using the advance option bar in Adobe Acrobat Professional. We can fix some PDF issues do to misspecifications but it takes time and charges will apply.

File Specifications for Black Ink Printing

Black ink must be converted to grayscale, embed graphics, outline fonts and save as a PDF with crop marks.

Each item should be sent as a one-up form.

Business cards: 2 x 3.5
Letterhead, Brochures, Flyers: 8.5 x 11
Newsletters: 11x17
#10 Envelope: 4.125 x 9.5

Artwork that bleeds of the edge of the printed sheet must include and additional .125 (1/8) inch beyond the size of the sheet.

Business Card: 2.25 x 3.75.
Letterhead, Brochures, Flyers: 8.75 x 11.25
Newsletters: 11.25 x 17.25

Envelope bleeds not recommended for short run work. We can print flat sheets and have them converted to envelopes but this is only cost effective on press runs 50,000 or more.

All text and graphics must remain .125” (1/8”) inside the edges for trimming purposes. Otherwise the type or graphics maybe cut off during trimming. Typically .25 (1/4”) or more margin is wise.

 Cut size paper 8.5x11, 8.5x14, 11x17 and stock envelopes must have a .3125 (5/16) gripper margin on the short side of the sheet. 5/16 margin is recommended all four sides.

We accept the following files:

PDF. pdf embed fonts and graphics (Recommended)
TIF tif/.tiff must be created at 300 dpi
JPEG .jpg must be created at 300dpi and saved at maximum quality
EPS .eps convert fonts to outlines and embed images
Photoshop CS2 .psd flatten artwork (300dpi)
Illustrator CS2 .ai convert fonts to outlines and embed images
InDesign CS2 .indd convert fonts to outlines and embed images
We do not accept downloadable fonts.
No web art (72 dpi)
Microsoft programs not acceptable for full color printing especially Publisher.
We can convert some WORD and Excel Documents for black ink printing such as simple forms.
When in doubt email us your files and we will be glad to review for possible errors.
We are not responsible for your typesetting errors and page layout errors.
